Kvinfo

New visual identity and new website for Kvinfo, Denmark.

In the summer & autumn of 2021 we worked on a wonderful task, to develop a new visual identity and website for Kvinfo. In a rewarding, funny, inspiring and trustful cooperation with the leaders and communication people from Kvinfo, our job felt just natural and easy.

KVINFO is Denmark’s knowledge center for gender and equality. KVINFO works at the crossroads between knowledge, politics and practice. They create an overview research and knowledge on the field and bring this knowledge into play broadly to decision-makers, media, companies, organizations and the public in Denmark and internationally.

They interpreter knowledge into change by developing tools and solutions to specific challenges related to gender. The letters in KVINFO stand for: gender, knowledge, information and research.

End of December 2021 we launched the website – Kvinfo worked hard & succesful with the content, we designed and our web wizard Rico Tijsen did the programming of the site. Illustrations/collages for the website were created by designer Juliana Toro, our very creative and skilled play- & soulmate.

Over the next period the new visual identity will be folded out; the logo, the colors, the fonts, the icons and all that jazz.

Check out the website on this link.

Website Butcher’s Manifesto

Q&D DONE!! We designed a quick & dirty visual identity around a fine logo already designed for Butcher’s Manifesto. We also created the website for the organisation, it’s here, it’s up and running!

Butcher’s Manifesto is a newly established international NGO aiming to collect, preserve and pass on traditional butchery methods and knowledge. Since the founding in august, 2016, Butcher’s Manifesto has become an international movement. At the founding event, 25 participating butchers agreed on five basic principles, which formed a manifesto that lays the foundation for the survival of the butcher’s trade. The five principles are guidelines for butchers to follow in order to bring back professional pride and ensure the survival and growth of the butcher’s craft.

Here some examples from the website – check it out on butchersmanifesto.com

Mast 31 – visual identity

Lower East has designed the new visual identity for the Swiss company, Mast 31.

The creation of the visual id was good ol’ team work; a dedicated client and the Lower East team, including our talented Swedish trainee, Amanda Pousette.

The man behind the company, Fabian Leuthold, is a passionate coffee roaster, barista – and a company and organization consultant. Why not combine these talents and passions in a new company, he thought.

Mast 31 believes that the companies of the future is investing in their corporate culture, because they has recognized the tremendous potential of satisfied employees. A lot of good stuff starts with a damn good cup of coffee, right?

You can reach the man behind on mast31.ch and check him out on his fact sheet (link at the bottom of this post).

Innovationsdorf Bern

A new, playful visual identity created for Innovationsdorf Bern in Switzerland. Created recently, and barely taken in use yet.

The direction is clear – they have a very cool place down there, already a lot of interesting inhabitants – and now a visual identity they can play with. We wish them luck!

Follow the project on our blog or check their temporary blog/web.

European Ceramic Context 2014

European Ceramic Context 2014 forms part of a biennial symposium for European contemporary glass and ceramics on the island of Bornholm in Denmark. Through comprehensive exhibitions, workshops, master classes and lectures, an opportunity will arise to discuss and present the best of contemporary European ceramics today.” (text from the website)

Lower East have worked for this event since 2008. We created the visual identity, designed the websites, catalogues, posters, postcards, invitations etc. During the process, we always have an inspiring dialogue and cooperation with the director of the Biennial Susanne Jøker Johnsen.

For the European Ceramic Context 2014, which opens 13th September we already designed the website, postcards and posters. For the visual identity we developed a new colour scheme, ending up with a beautiful set of colours ranging from lavender over light and dark violet to a warm clay-grey and a dark liver-brown. For the poster graphics we have been playing around with the clay figures by Danish artist Louise Birch. On the poster we imagined, that the figures were in an exhibition space – exploring art, meeting  each other, relaxing and enjoying a bit of yoga in between conferences and workshops. They are full of humour and we love them.

Read much more about European Ceramic Context 2014 on the website. We recommend you to visit Bornholm in September 2014 to see the fantastic exhibitions or maybe take part in a conference, workshop etc. Enjoy!

Bornholm Biennials for contemporary European glass and ceramics are jointly organized by Bornholm Art Museum, The Royal Danish Academy, School of Design Bornholm and Grønbechs Gård.

New visual identity – for New Business
Lower East just did another quick & d….. visual identity job. This time for a new master program, created by changels in Bern, Switzerland.

Maybe it could be a ‘thing’ for you? Info from the info papers:

NEW BUSINESS. A one year further training for people who want to grow their project ideas into sustainable and inspiring businesses.

We at changels are strong in coaching entrepreneurs and their teams to sustainable and regenerative success. We have been running several leadership trainings and strategic development processes for companies and entrepreneurs in start-up and further development to reach new horizons. We have started the KaosPilots school for responsible entrepreneurs, creative leaders and change makers here in Switzerland, a three year full time education with an international focus.

For a while we have felt a strong desire to start up an intense one year program based on the best of the changels competencies and experiences and our learnings from the KaosPilot training.

We have been asked many times, whether we could offer a one year further training for entrepreneurs that is lighter than the 3 year KaosPilots training and focusing on people who already have a running business or are about to start up.

So here it is: the changels NEW BUSINESS, a mastery program for passionate entrepreneurs with existing and new projects and business dreams.

gastro & vino

Lower East just designed a quick & not-that-dirty visual identity for the new Aarhus (Denmark) based food & wine company gastro & vino. One of our good friends just started this up, based on many, many years work, walk and talk within the food & wine business. Main focus will be teambuilding, wine sales, wine tasting and private dining. Check him out and wish him luck.

The Syndicate

The Syndicate is a little wine company based in Copenhagen, Denmark. As one of the Lower East‘ers is one of the founders behind The Syndicate, It was of course natural that Lower East (who else should have done that?) designed the visual identity for the project. Quick, cheap, functional & simple. Orange, black and white – sometimes with a splash of grey. Voila. And back to work – and the wine.

The Syndicate sells every month a new box of wine, every time under a new theme and with a new selection of good and interesting wines. Once a month The Syndicate are hosting a cosy launch / wine tasting / mini-wine-bar / wine shop somewhere in Copenhagen.

Follow the project (sorry, mostly in Danish) at the website or on facebook.

Working with students

At the wonderful Borups Højskole, a folk high school in Copenhagen, Lower East teaches regularly. This spring at the ‘Next Step’, a pre-qualification class where the students can prepare for and maybe apply to educations such as design schools and architecture schools. In a late February week Jørgen worked with the students in the classic graphic design disciplin “Visual Identity“. 20 students, 7 groups, 7 cases, 5 days and on the last day each group made a quite fantastic presentation. Every group was during the week pushed hard by the strict teacher, each group should come up with a name for their project, a logo, a visual identity, and furthermore they should invent solutions on unfolding the identity in ways that would surprise the rest of the class and the, let’s just say, experienced teacher.

What a fantastic week, big applause to the students, both for the results achieved and for their enthusiasm and their work discipline.
Looking forward to return in April for another period at the school.
