New visual identity and a new website for the folk high school Johan Borups in Copenhagen. The identity is out there living its life in newspaper adds, posters, flyers, stickers, website etc. and working great. We had a fruitful cooperation with the school, who has taken the design to their hearts and keeps working with it in a playful way.
the folk high school
Johan Borups Højskole is a Nordic folk high school placed in the heart of Copenhagen at Frederiksholms Kanal and close neighbour to Christiansborg, which houses the Danish Parliament. The school is a creative and cultural meeting place for students from the Nordic countries. The school is very active in being present in the city of Copenhagen through events, concerts, “Open House” etc. You can attend the school for a period of 12 weeks, 6 months or 12 months. And during the summer the school offers 1 week summer courses.
At the school you can choose from six main subjects: Design, music, film (documentary), writing, theater, art & architecture. Find out more on the website.
The school needed a strong and modern visual identity, that is easy to recognize and easy for the staff to work with to ensure a consistent communication from logo and business cards to website and campaigning posters etc.
keywords, logo & the fourth line
Our keywords for the design was to create a visual identity, which was
– solid and beautiful
– clear and recognizable communication
– inviting, including and playful
– with simple and modern typography
– easy to use for the school
The logo consists of the school’s name divided into three lines in a solid black typeface. The logo can be extended with “the fourth line” – a word or a short sentence, which can add info, atmosphere, humour to the name, communicating events, courses etc. A design element that makes communicating fun.
